The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is designed to assist students, families and schools in our partner districts to manage the impact that a wide variety of personal and family problems can have on student behavior and achievement. Many issues can negatively impact a student including those related to family conflict, emotional or mental health problems, limited parenting skills, substance abuse, bullying and other peer conflict.

The Para Ti Program provides bilingual (English, Spanish) and bicultural counseling and therapy services for the growing Latino community in Central Iowa. The program can help individuals and families address challenges such as depression and other emotional issues, relationship or marital problems, family and parenting concerns, stress, financial concerns, grief and loss, abuse, and communication.

Prevention Services provide substance abuse, problem gambling and violence prevention in the form of presentations, coordination of community efforts, information dissemination, and education to youth and adults regarding substance use and violence. Prevention Specialists implement research-based curricula in schools and communities, assist with drug-free policies, provide technical assistance and consultation to community coalitions, and help to create public awareness campaigns about substance abuse. Prevention Services are available to schools, community groups, and workplaces.

The ReThinking Drinking Program addresses underage drinking through a combination of restorative justice and alcohol education. Youth are referred to the program for alcohol incidents or offenses. In some cases, youth are given the opportunity to avoid court involvement on the offense if they successfully complete all program requirements.

Every Family Rocks! is Des Moines' only Family Music Festival and EFR's signature event celebrating all families in our community. Held annually, the event features nationally recognized entertainers alongside local artists, young musicians, and lots of interactive activities for all ages. The event provides an opportunity for families to gather and celebrate being together in a fun and safe environment and raises awareness of EFR's mission of helping people manage life's challenges so they can reach their full potential.

EFR provides substance abuse assessment, referral, and related services to a wide range of clients in diverse settings. In addition to self- and corrections-referred clients served at our downtown office, these include jail-based assessment and drug court case management.

All donations are tax deductible as prescribed by law. Employee & Family Resources is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
